The Limestone Coast Academy of Sport (LCAS) swimming program provides high-performance coaching and training opportunities to help athletes develop their skills and progress to higher levels of competition.

The program bridges the gap between local club competition and state/national pathways, giving athletes the opportunity to refine technique, improve physical conditioning, and build the mental skills required for elite performance.

Athletes selected for the program will receive access to:

  • Intensive swim training sessions focused on stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategies
  • Strength and conditioning sessions to improve power, endurance, and injury prevention
  • Sports science support, including fitness testing, recovery strategies, and performance monitoring
  • Athlete education workshops covering topics such as nutrition, sports psychology, motivation, and leadership
  • Access to specialised coaches and guest presenters

To be considered for the LCAS Swimming Program, athletes must:

  • Fall within the Academy’s targeted age categories (e.g., U13, U15, or U17)
  • Reside, attend school, or train within the LCAS catchment area
  • Be a registered member of a swimming club or state/national association
  • Submit a nomination form before the advertised closing date

The following factors may be taken into account during selection:

  • Performance and results at club, regional, or state-level competitions
  • Technical ability and stroke efficiency
  • Physical attributes, conditioning, and potential to improve
  • Commitment to training and competition
  • Individual application and motivation
  • Coachability and behaviour
