The Limestone Coast Academy of Sport (LCAS) Lonestar Program supports talented athletes from across the region who are competing at a state or national level, or who are identified as having strong potential to do so.

The program is designed to assist athletes from a wide range of sports — particularly those not covered by LCAS squad-based programs – by providing access to athlete education, development opportunities, and a supportive high-performance environment.

Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • LCAS apparel package
  • Athlete education workshops delivered by Academy consultants and guest experts
  • Preferred access to partner services (e.g., physiotherapy, sports science, nutrition)
  • Opportunities for promotion and media exposure
  • Invitation to the annual LCAS Graduation Night

To be considered for the Lonestar Program, athletes must:

  • Be competing in either an individual or team sport
  • Reside, attend school, or train within the LCAS catchment area
  • Be a registered member of their relevant regional or state sporting body
  • Demonstrate recent performances at state age level or higher
  • Not be eligible for a sport-specific LCAS squad program during the same intake year
  • Athletes may only hold a Lonestar scholarship for a maximum of two years
  • Indigenous athletes are strongly encouraged to apply

Athletes selected in the program will be required to:

  • Maintain regular communication with the LCAS office
  • Attend the program induction and scheduled workshops
  • Fulfil a community-based component of their scholarship (e.g., volunteering with junior programs, supporting local clubs, or assisting with community events)
  • Be available for media and promotional opportunities
  • Attend the LCAS Graduation Night

Ahlete Commitments

  • Attend all scheduled activities and workshops
  • Prioritise the Lonestar Program as a key commitment during the scholarship year
  • Abide by the LCAS Code of Conduct and anti-doping policies
  • Wear Academy apparel when representing LCAS at events/functions
  • Engage positively with sponsors, media, and the community
