The Limestone Coast Academy of Sport (LCAS) hockey program provides high-performance coaching and training opportunities to help athletes develop their skills and progress towards higher levels of representation within the sport.

LCAS plays an important role in the athlete development pathway by identifying, supporting, and preparing talented young hockey players from across the region.

To be considered for the 2026 LCAS Hockey Program, athletes must:

  • Be aged within the Academy’s targeted development categories (Under 16 or Under 18)
  • Reside, attend school, undertake tertiary education, or be meaningfully employed/training within the LCAS catchment area
  • Be a current registered member of their local hockey association or club
  • Submit a nomination form before the advertised closing date

The following factors may be considered during selection:

  • Performance and results at relevant tournaments/competitions
  • Technical and tactical ability (including stick skills, game awareness, and positional play)
  • Physical attributes and athletic potential
  • Competitive drive and commitment to training and development
  • Individual application and personal goals
  • Coachability and behaviour both on and off the field
  • Potential for progression within the Hockey SA pathway
  • Team contribution and leadership qualities
  • The program will consist of two age groups: Under 16 and Under 18. Athletes must fall into one of these categories.
  • Athletes must reside or attend school within the LCAS catchment area.
  • Athletes must be a current registered member of their local hockey association.
  • Please note: All athletes, including those already identified at state team level, are required to participate in Academy talent programs.
