The Limestone Coast Academy of Sport (LCAS) hosted its Annual Awards Evening on Friday, 28th November, celebrating the achievements of athletes, coaches, and volunteers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and success throughout the year. This year’s event also marked an exciting milestone, the Academy’s merge into the Regional Academies of Sport network, strengthening pathways for Limestone Coast athletes to reach state and national levels.
The pinnacle of the evening was the Athlete of the Year Award, recognising those who embody sporting excellence both on and off the field. Shayden Russell, representing the Basketball program, was named Athlete of the Year for her outstanding performances and leadership. A five-year Academy member, Shayden never misses a session and contributes to the basketball community through umpiring and junior coaching. Her achievements include selection in the Pioneers Train-On Squad and representing South Australia Country at the U18 National Championships. Shayden’s consistency, professionalism, and commitment make her a true role model.

- Athlete Leadership & Excellence Award – Amali Judd
Amali transitioned from Highland Dancing to cycling and has become one of the Academy’s most disciplined athletes. Her professionalism, coachability, and leadership set the tone for others, making her a deserving recipient of this award. - Coaching Leadership & Excellence Award – Robert Mann
Robert has been a cornerstone of the LCAS cycling program for five years, producing national champions and SASI athletes. His passion, expertise, and commitment to athlete development earned him the Coach of the Year title.
