Who Are We?

For almost 40 years, the Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) have delivered successful high-performance athlete pathway programs. Specialising in regional talent identification and athlete development programs, the success of the RAS organisation is clear to see. The last three Olympic and Paralympic Games (Paris, Tokyo, Rio) have seen 98 RAS Alumni athletes represent Australia across 13 sports. 28 of these athletes finished on the podium delivering 45 medals, including 14 Gold.

Regional Academies of Sport is the parent company of the eight regional academies of sport throughout regional Australia. These eight regions are highly successful in their own right, but have become increasingly more successful with a centralised model of operation through RAS.

As we gear up for the next decade of success, we’re excited to continue our mission of nurturing talent and fostering excellence in sports. At LCAS, we’re more than just a sporting organisation – we’re a community-driven, non-profit entity dedicated to providing localised training and development opportunities for our region’s young athletes. With a robust lineup of high-performance sport programs annually, we cater to a diverse range of sporting passions.

What sets LCAS apart is our unwavering commitment to quality. Our programs boast access to some of Australia’s top coaches, ensuring athletes receive top-notch training to propel their careers forward. But we don’t stop there – alongside on-field sessions, our athletes benefit from personalised development education sessions, nurturing both their athletic talent and personal growth.

With a well-defined corporate strategy, LCAS stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit.

LCAS is part of the Regional Academies of Sport network which represents eight government operated Regional Academies across Australia, supporting over 2,000 athletes and 300 coaching staff. Covering more than 100 local government areas, RAS delivers pre-elite athlete development programs with a combined annual operating budget exceeding $4 million.
